In the beginning, social media was a way to keep up and connect with old friends and family. Over the years, it has morphed away from its original intention. I have used it to meet writers, to share messages, wisdom, and the insanity of life. It became a place where I could help others and a platform to share the words that come to me. I promoted my anthology books there and belong to several causes on social media in my community.
As social media evolved, I found myself spending less time on it than I used to—a good thing, I suppose. It has become infiltrated by lies, hate, and news that is not really news, but rather rumors and inciting behavior. It’s a sad revelation for something that was once filled with good news and discovery. The world, however, is ever-changing.
This transformation is what led me to the blogging platform. Here, I feel more at home and truly among friends. Blogging gives me the space to express myself thoughtfully, and I’ve found a supportive community that values authentic stories and ideas. Not sure where the tech world will go next, but we are all following it, some in hope of it becoming better, and others, unfortunately, using it to spread lies and hate. For now, I choose to focus on building genuine connections and sharing positivity through the platforms that feel right for me.
