A proverb that does not actually ring true in my opinion… “Better late than never” sounds simple, but it seems more like an excuse than words to live by and give purpose.
I’ve used this one in life, in younger years, when life was more circus than journey. I suppose I was raised to be more responsible and to have accountability that made this one seem like an excuse more than a life choice for greatness. While it is better to show up, to do the things, it is also important to be where you need to be, when you should be. The reasoning to me is that lost time can not be replaced, it is fleeting as “they say” and you can’t get it back. So being late at times is lost experience, lost memories, lost adventure, or lost love and life lessons. So as a proverb, it falls short for me, better to push yourself, show up on time for life and see what happens next. Besides being late makes me always feel behind…
