Jot it down… First thought on my mind

On my mind, as dawn breaks and I open my eyes, is a whirlwind of thoughts, each tumbling into the next. The first thing I wonder is what time it is, then what day, and as I ask Alexa for answers, I shift in bed and prepare to start my routine. Today, my mind leaps to the guests coming for dinner—what dessert should I make, and will the weather ever bring rain to ease this drought? I long for relief, and as I head down the hall, I pause to check on the old dog, making sure Tebow is breathing and ready to greet the morning. As sunlight spills across the treetops, gratitude fills me; I whisper a simple thanks to God and hope heaven holds a view just as breathtaking.

My first thoughts are always a tangled string—Old Age ADHD, scattered brain indeed. But once coffee flows through my veins, daydreams settle in as I gaze at the woods outside. I wake up early not just for the time, but for those precious moments to let my thoughts, heart, and soul breathe. It’s a gentle transition into the reality of life, and each day I find myself giving thanks for everything, savoring the sights and the quiet, and hoping to carry this sense of wonder throughout whatever comes next.
