Famous people, Infamous people… Rambling on about not being star struck by people… We are all people

When I read this question this morning I had to think a bit. Mainly for the reason that I am not the kind of person to be all giddy and excited to follow or be impressed by what society deems “Famous People” and the Infamous ones I know of I have thankfully never met.  I think most people think famous people now are  those reality stars, performers, and sadly politicians. I have met Kenny Rogers wife Marianne, she shared stories of her husband whose music I adore and later sent me a signed picture of him. But the most “Famous person” I ever met in person was President Jimmy Carter. My Daddy was the president of the Democratic Committee in Griffin, GA. And we campaigned for him. I was 17 on the verge of 18 and I voted for him in my first Presidential election. He was a soft spoken, kind man. He had an energy about him that gave you hope, and belief that good was possible.

I have had the experience in my life to have lived through seeing so many Famous good men taken from us, John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Bobby Kennedy, and while I never met them. Their legacy, their lives, helped to give hope, make change, and I suppose the horrible infamous men who murdered them while I never met them, hold a place in my memory as well. I do not have a cache of famous people meetings stored away but rather a respect for the people I see do good, be honest and true, and help make life better for all people. While I have not personally met them all, I have met a few famous local people. They are famous for reasons that today seem harder to find. They are good men and women, kind, honest, hardworking and helpful and willing and able to try to make a difference in people’s lives. They run shelters, help the homeless and the addicted find their footing. They listen to the needs of others with sincerity and help to guide them. They donate to help those less fortunate get by. They stand up for those who are oppressed and judged unfairly. They are everyday people that do not seek to be famous, are unknown more often than not, and just do what is right, what Jesus would do. I am honored to know them…

Famous and Infamous people are defined and seen differently by us all. For me it is the everyday famous, the ones who work behind the scenes on a level that does not find their way into the spotlight. Those are the Famous people I respect, and that I am in awe of… As for the infamous ones, those are everywhere now, men and women trying to suppress and decimate this country. May God help us all get through what they are doing to us.
