The Joy Hidden in Ordinary Moments…
Happiness isn’t always a grand event or a distant goal, it often reveals itself in the quiet moments and simple pleasures of daily life. It’s in the gentle ways the world greets us each morning, not with the shrill sound of an alarm, but with the subtle touch of a higher power that nudges us awake, whispering, “Rise and shine.” HAPPINESS.
It’s in the songs of birds, greeting the day outside my window as I sit in my Queen chair, letting their melodies fill my heart. HAPPINESS. Walking across the acres, taking in the beauty of wild azaleas blooming and yellow vines weaving through the woods, I find myself soaking in the peace and serenity around me. HAPPINESS.
Sometimes, it’s the laughter of my great-grandkids, still so young, chasing bubbles and giggling without a care in the world, that brings a smile to my face. HAPPINESS. And when I return home, my three mutts greet me with boundless excitement, no matter how long I’ve been away. Their unconditional joy is a reminder that happiness can be found in loyalty and love. HAPPINESS. These are the first five moments that come to mind, but the list is endless.
Throughout the rest of my day, happiness is found in the kind souls I meet along the way. Sometimes, I see a spark in someone’s eyes, a connection that touches my soul. It’s the comfort of being home, feeling the quiet peace that surrounds me, almost loud in its tranquility, yet soothing.
When my phone rings and it’s my sister or an old friend, just hearing their familiar voices fills me with warmth. Sitting on the porch, I watch hummingbirds zip by, pausing as if to say hello, and I smile. From my kitchen window, I glimpse a small herd of deer grazing in the backyard. Outside, new growth appears on my plants, and bulbs push through the soil in my planters. Every bit of life reminds me of renewal and hope.
Spending time with my devotional books, I feel messages from God reaching me, bringing comfort and meaning. All of these moments… each seemingly mundane or ordinary… make my heart feel full and my soul light. If I’m honest, there are countless more things to add.
My happiness is found in the quiet, the everyday, the overlooked moments that weave together the fabric of my life. It’s not always flashy or loud, but it’s real and lasting. I am good with that.
