How I Wake Up and Ease Into the Day….

My morning starts as I wake up and ask Alexa what time it is. I rise and walk to the bathroom, where I wash my face with cold water, well water a deeper chill than some know. The invigorating chill helps me wash away the sleep from my eyes, preparing me to step into the day. Next, I make coffee, blend a protein shake, and grab some fruit, settling in with a beautiful view of the sunrise and the bird feeder.

I listen as the birds serenade in the sun, and I like to imagine they sing just for me as they come for breakfast. I read my devotionals and pray, sitting in a peaceful silence punctuated only by birdsong. Then I catch up on the news online and let myself daydream a bit about what I wish could be real, what I need to accomplish today, and rally my energy to head out and about.

On good days, I wander outside to get in some steps, piddle in the yard, chat with my plants, and water them. Writing finds me at some point in the morning—sometimes early if words are pressing to be spent. Recently, I’ve added exercises to keep my ole’ woman parts moving and limber. Some days, I porch sit, watching lizards crawl out from their hiding places to bask in the sun, while my mutt Jake keeps a keen eye on squirrels running along the treetops and across the yard.

It is with a touch of regret that I admit my morning Zen is drawing to a close. I’ve taken this time and savored every moment, each fleeting second feels precious as I transition into the rest of my day. And Now… I am posting and reaching for my shoes, the coolness of the morning will dissipate soon, and I have a need to be out in it…

I hope something wonderful happens to you today, be the good in the world today, we all so need it.
