Rambling on about my Rambling Shoes…
My favorite shoes are my Merrell Hiking Shoes. I bought them from Mercari, new with tags, and they have carried me places I did not think I would ever be able to traverse. They are comfortable and steady me, even my ole’ woman self with her bad feet and disabilities. The confidence they provide allows me to step boldly onto winding country trails, over the hills and through the woods, and across muddy puddles, trusting each stride as I go. Each time I lace them up, I feel a little more capable, ready to greet the world outside my door.
They have taken me through trails of state parks alongside creeks and lakes, through the woods and by the beaches and marshes that dot the landscape in Southeast Georgia. These shoes have taken me across the Acres here morning after morning for 3 years… I walk and look at the wild things blooming, soak up the sun, and feel the calm that comes from being out and about in nature. The rhythm of my footsteps, cushioned and supported, syncs with the sounds of birds and rustling leaves, making each outing a peaceful retreat from daily stresses.
They have taken me on adventures at historical monuments; I have seen the views of the marshes of Glynn from the towers deep in the wooded area of The Earth Day Park. I have walked over battlefields and over bridges that wind through gardens and trees. They have taken me places that speak to my heart and give joy to my soul. I have conversed with God as I have worn them and traveled among his creation. These simple shoes, worn and well-loved, hold the stories of countless journeys and the echo of my gratitude with every mile.
They are my favorite shoes… They carry me places I thought I would never see or get to be.
