Twas’ the night before Christmas and all through the house,
not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse…
The puppies were all asleep in their beds,
while visions of dog biscuits danced in their heads…
And I, in my PJs, finished my Eggnog nightcap
and laid myself down, hoping for a good night’s nap…
When out in the yard, I heard such a ruckus,
I thought Bigfoot or aliens were descending upon us…
I grabbed for my gun and headed for the back door,
All I could hear was barking and howling galore!!!
I eased open the door and flipped on the light,
and what I saw then was quite a bizarre sight…
There stood Santa Claus by his reindeer and sleigh,
And the only words I could muster were, “NO WAY!!!!”
He was stripped down to long johns and sweating like crazy
and all that happened next is still a bit hazy…
Santa raised his hands and said, “Please don’t shoot!”
“It’s me, Santa Claus, not some crazy old coot!!!”
He said, “It’s so hot down south here tonight,
I had to strip down and cool off before I could finish my flight!”
I hollered at all the dogs to try to get them to hush,
while Santa was gathering up his suit in a rush…
The reindeer were nervous and prancing in place,
 jingle bells ringing, I can’t imagine the look on my face…
Santa climbed back on board his sleigh and waved at me,
“Sorry to wake you, I left you something special under the tree!”
And with that, I heard him slap reins and holler, “Let’s go, boys, it’s time to fly!”
And I watched as they flew up and off into the night sky…
“Merry Christmas to You” I heard him holler as he flew out of sight
all I could think of was no one would believe what happened to me tonight…
