My first day back in Georgia… coming home.

Tell us about your first day at something — school, work, as a parent, etc.

I just had this thought a few days back… I was coming home to my Swampy Bottom Acres and my mind did a pop up review of the day I moved home to Georgia from Mississippi… I bought the house without seeing it in person,  my son went and viewed it and FaceTime my walk through. I didn’t expect to sell my place in Mississippi so fast, had no landing place so online real estate was what I did!

I can remember well the drive to my new home I’d only seen in pictures. I thought for a few minutes I would never get there, I was anxious and tired from the 8 hour drive with 11 dogs and my son driving the haul. We drove all night and arrived at 8 am at our exit off I95. Then 30 minutes through the countryside, down my new dirt road until there it was, home… I pulled in to the back and felt home right away… the trees still green in November, the pond i could see from my kitchen window and back porch. The house empty, but in my mind I could see it filled with my things. The family started arriving soon, sons and grandkids all about, truck being unloaded, dogs all happy and exploring their new digs.

By late afternoon the truck was uml8aded and people had started to help unpack, the kitchen being organized, the bedroom, and the dog boxes all set up for rest to come. Then blessidly, people came with food… we ate BBQ and all the trimmings scattered about. The laughter of children and the catching up on life stories were a treat to my soul… by the time darkness fell we were exhausted,  some stayed some left to return the next day, but at the end of the day… I was home..  A Good Day.
