Swampy Bottom Acres is Home.
What does your ideal home look like?
This idea of an ideal home… I have this one. It is a place with privacy, off the beaten path, it is surrounded by nature, and there is a heart-warming quiet in its boundaries. It is small, 900 sq. ft. But has porches that span its length, front and back… a metal roof to help the music of the rain lull my heart when it comes, a kitchen small in size but with practice and a plan can feed my family, and it’s easy to clean. My ideal home holds room enough to hold me and feel cozy and safe. The walls are full of treasures hung to bring smiles, evoke memories of my life, and memories of my past, my heritage. My office is filled with books that speak of my dreams, studies, and the tales that feed my soul. While small in size it fits me…
The home is more than the house, it is the land, the place… my porches are filled with plants that bring me joy. The acres, 7 of them, I can walk out of my house and walk about within my gates, and discover new wonders here all the time, God’s amazing gifts.
Home, ideal for me, the birds visiting, the squirrels scampering through the trees, the deer I see some days from my window, my porch snake that visits from time to time, sneaky snake… the hummingbirds that return every year to my middle of nowhere. The innumerable frogs and lizards, the symphonies of the day and night that grace me here, at home. MY IDEAL HOME… My Swampy Bottom Acres, where my soul relaxes, my heart is full, and my mind drifts into a space of ease and I feel Gods grace.
