How do you plan your goals?
I try to be honest always, never been good at lying really. Well, kinda good at lying to myself at times about what I’m going to do, plan to do or have to do, YES…
It gets different as you age, you see the goals you failed to reach as you glance back over your shoulder, see the whys, and wonder the what-ifs. Realize that even though you didn’t hit your goal the journey has not been so bad, so what if you missed the mark a time or two, you made it through. You start to feel like goals are just wishes and dreams and sometimes they come true and at times they were maybe just not meant to be. If you’re still moving, living, and breathing there’s always a possibility for new goals.
I have myself missed the mark many times. I have goals I didn’t make that I feel some regret over, but I still am stepping… I hear the old saying, “We make plans, God laughs” at times reverberating in my mind. I find myself smiling and wondering what it is that He has planned for me if that didn’t work… my goal today is to walk a mile, write a bit, fold the clothes in the dryer, and then go to work… odds are those I’ll make. I’m also planning a “make a better me” goal, working on that day but day… thinking that goal will be on-going for me. I plan my goals now with prayer, step out in faith, and with hope and just do my best ! Life is a journey, not a football game. Goals are not about the final points in the end. They are about your journey… enjoy it.
