Searching for Light Amid Uncertainty
There are moments in life when the heaviness of absence—missing those we love, missing what once was—settles deeply into the soul. I am feeling this deeply, my empathy feels the world’s burdens as they seem to press more firmly upon my shoulders. I miss too many of the ones who held the same ideals and morals as I do. This weight feels demanding, and I struggle to raise my strength to navigate the murky churning waters of what lies ahead. The news of military deployment on our own citizens runs like a current beneath our daily routines, stirring up uncertainty and worrying about what tomorrow might hold. What is coming… A new reality of life is trying to take root here, one that we thought was too surreal to happen is becoming… frightening and surreal oppression born from the dark thoughts and minds of those in power.
Yet, within the quiet ache and the swirling questions, a desire for light persists within me, within so many of us. There is a hope—fragile, perhaps, but persistent—that something bright can reach the soul, even when the sky feels clouded and the path ahead unclear. In the silence between anxious thoughts, we all search for reassurance, for signs of peace, for any gentle reminder that, even in turmoil, humanity can prevail.
When the world changes abruptly, and the familiar becomes foreign, it is natural to wonder about the future. The sight of military presence may bring feelings of unease or fear, but it also calls forth our shared resilience. In times of crisis, communities often discover unexpected reserves of compassion and solidarity. We are seeing people rise to protest, to be heard. Neighbors check on each other. Strangers share words of comfort. In the uncertainty, people find ways to persist—to hope, to help, to heal, and to fight. We must find a way to band together for the sake of the future…
If you find yourself like I find myself, longing for light, for clarity, and hope, just know that this is both a wish and an invitation. It beckons you to seek out small kindnesses, to create gentle rituals that nurture your spirit, and to remember that, even in darkness, you are not alone. The future may hold challenges we cannot see, but it is also open to the possibility of renewal, of change that can make things better, take back what is right. We all live with the possibility and have the ability to proffer change, hope, and take back what is being taken from us.
Let hope be your companion through uncertainty. While you cannot control the tides of change or the movements of armies, you can hold close to your dreams of peace and your determination to care for yourself and those around you. Allow the longing for light to guide you, even as you navigate the unknown. In a world that has grown accustomed to things being “instant” or fast, the uncertainty and change that is being felt today may not be arrested as easily.
Now is the time to breathe deeply and prepare for a long haul, at least one that will come with costs and require determination and perseverance. I can not bring myself to call this country The United States of America anymore. I want to, but it is to me now, Our Country, America. We have much work to do to bring it back to The United States of America. I will not go silently into this new world of Fascism and Authoritarian rule. I do not think that the majority of us are willing. It is time to be heard, to be seen, to do whatever you can no matter how small to help save democracy, to bring the light back to this country. You can lie about anything and everything, but it does not erase the truth… The truth is always the truth. Our history is our history; it is how we got to where we were, and It is truth and the historical strength we share that will get us back to where we want to be.
Or so I Believe…. Now I am sliding my soapbox back in the corner… While we are all falling into survival mode let’s not give up the idea that we can thrive as well… We just must remember there is strength in numbers. Reach out, life is about give and take.
I hope you find a reason to smile today, to be kind, and that someone is kind to you.
