Create an emergency preparedness plan.

Emergency preparedness is something that I do without much thought… I’m the proverbial boy scout, girl scout… I live in the Deep Coastal South, tropical storms, hurricane warnings, and tornado warnings are on my radar. I live on a dirt road in a rural county. Power outages, loss of water, utilities, and such are not strangers to me. I stay prepared… chainsaws, gas, batteries, Waycross, cooking options, and pantry staples for such are stocked. Because I live in a county where the fire dept and other “services” are manned by volunteers,  they are very responsive and are doing their jobs out of a desire to help. But I have hoses all over, keep medical kits stocked, and keep ready in times that call for that.

The new possibilities that could be emergencies however, I’m not sure how to prepare for. But I’m researching and trying to learn what may need to be among my provisions and what I may need to mentally prepare for…

I will say both of My grandfather’s taught me preparedness, my father and mother as well. I do think that it is a lesson that has seen a reduction in its effective teaching. Sadly now. Panic ensues at the moment the reality of emergency comes… but I’m good, thanks to lessons from the past…
