Journalism is the profession I admire most. A much younger me, had the dream of becoming a newspaper writer, a journalist, columnist, the female version of Lewis Grizzard. In a world full of noise and misinformation, REAL journalists stand out as the people who dig for the facts and share them with everyone, even when it’s risky or unpopular. They help keep society honest and informed.
Journalists search for the truth, ask questions, and shine a light on things that matter. They hold people in power accountable and tell stories that often wouldn’t be heard otherwise. Without them, it would be easier for those in charge to hide mistakes or wrongdoing.
Being a journalist isn’t easy, especially in the world that is evolving around us here now. Sometimes they work in dangerous places or face threats just for doing their job. But standing up for the truth takes guts, whether it’s verifying a tricky story or pushing back against censorship and authoritarian regimes.
Good journalism changes lives. It exposes problems, sparks conversations, and sometimes leads to real change—like new laws or better protections. Journalists help shape what we talk about and remember as a society.
Journalists also help us see the world through other people’s eyes. Their stories can build empathy and understanding between different groups or countries.
Today, journalism faces big hurdles: fake news, social media drama, and financial pressures. Still, dedicated reporters find new ways to get the truth out and help people make sense of the world.
I admire journalists for their curiosity, honesty, and bravery. They remind us why the truth matters and why it’s worth fighting for.
