What strategies do you use to maintain your health and well-being?
To be honest, my health is good, and my well-being is what I constantly work on. I have been blessed with health, and have fought through disabilities for over half my life. Maintaining my well-being, though a struggle, has been a journey I have excelled at with God’s grace and mercy.
I know that if I stop “doing” if I stop trying to be better, don’t keep stepping, the results will put me in a dark place. It is a mind over matter game for me. If you don’t do you won’t be able to do. So… I get up, set myself up for the day, take the time to be good to myself, to my soul. Body, and mind. And yes, I fail some days, but then I remember who I am, what I want to feel, and I pull myself up and start stepping… To be honest, I hear my Daddy in my head, “Get up and move, work it off, you have to keep going, you’re an Ellis, it’s what we do.”
No, life is not easy, and with the chaos and insanity of the world lately, it’s easier than usual to want to just give up. Life is changing, I’m older, it’s crazier, and there seems to be less motivation to keep going. YET I RISE as Maya Angelo so eloquently spoke… I believe God is in the details. If He wakes me up today, there is a purpose, a reason, so in honor of all He is and has done for me, I RISE and push forward. I try to make good choices for myself in nutrition, exercise, and make sure I feed my soul. Our health and well-being are tied up in all facets of how we live, they all need to be nourished and fed….. self-care is a necessary element to maintaining your health and well-being.
