What is your favorite genre of music?

My favorite music genre, deciding this is tough. My music tastes have evolved as I have grown. The music i listen to is determined by a need, a need to remember,  to inspire, to soothe, to uplift, to heal. Music is therapeutic and personal.

As a kid growing up motown, classic rock, even the blues, and a tad of country filled my basement world. We danced to it, performed it as kids in shows presented to our parents and just pretending to be the stars. My parents had collections of jazz, big band, and rock and roll music that was the thing in the 60s and 70s.

As a kid I’d ride my bike to town on Saturday to spend my allowance at Record Heaven, the local music store. Now these places are for collectors and are scarce. But I’d go for 45s one hit a side special tunes. Music was what we enjoyed before phones went everywhere with you.

Sometime in the late 70s early 80s country music became my favorite genre, I loved me some Waylon, Willie, George, and Conway. Today the genre has seen many changes,I still listen to it. Country music sparks memories and soothes my soul. But the aged me now enjoys the religious gospel genre as well. The old hymns, the new age Christian as well. This genre speaks to me in a way that makes my soul feel easy, and hopeful for what lies ahead.

My favorite genre I suppose is what my soul desires at the time… this morning a Playlist I named Zen things… a mix of old hymns, easy country that all fill my ears and soul with a euphoria of being in a world that is melodiously serene…

To each his own… a genre for our mood.
